A Hong Kong private company generally has statutory financial reporting and audit obligations. A qualifying company with formal dormant status may have exemptions. Having no sales, making a loss or not yet opening a bank account does not by itself establish an audit exemption. We can help identify the questions to review with your auditor.

An independent CPA practice eligible to act as auditor in Hong Kong. It performs the audit and issues the auditor’s report under its own engagement. IMSG’s role is accounting preparation and coordination.

Yes. We can prepare records and schedules and coordinate queries with your existing auditor. The auditor retains responsibility for audit procedures and conclusions; directors retain responsibility for approving the financial statements.

Depending on your engagement: a trial balance, reconciliations, supporting schedules, requested documents and follow-up on audit queries. Accounting adjustments and approvals follow the appropriate review process. Tax return preparation is included only where separately agreed.

Review its actual transactions and formal status. A non-trading company may still need accounts and an audit. The lower starting audit fee is a pricing distinction, not a legal exemption.

Financial reporting, AGM arrangements and profits tax filing have related but distinct requirements. First accounting periods and available AGM exemptions affect the timetable. Check the applicable company requirements and the IRD return deadline; do not rely on an unqualified “nine months for every company” statement.
