Hong Kong welcomes international entrepreneurs and foreign business owners. There are no restrictions on foreigners owning a Hong Kong company, making it an ideal jurisdiction for global business setup. However, foreign business owners must ensure compliance with local business regulations, especially regarding company structure, tax, and reporting.
Key requirements for foreign-owned Hong Kong companies:
Company Secretary Requirement: Every Hong Kong company must appoint a company secretary, which can be an individual or a corporate body. If an individual, they must normally reside in Hong Kong. If a corporate body, it must have a registered office or place of business in Hong Kong.
Registered Office: A local Hong Kong address is required as the registered office of the company.
Director Requirements: At least one director must be appointed, who can be of any nationality and reside anywhere in the world.
Shareholder Requirements: At least one shareholder is required, who can be of any nationality and reside anywhere in the world.
